Borderlands and process geographies are important tools to work with and are embedded in the historical. Without the intellectual focus of borderlands and process geographies, the temporal and spatial orientation of Scott’s book becomes very unclear when set against the other global comparative points of reference he employs, which range across space and time.
Time depth becomes a concertina performance in this book with supporting examples for Scott’s fundamental ideas seeming sometimes to be cherry picked from around the globe and across time and space. I say ‘distorted’ because it is well to take a closer look at the notion of ‘Zomia’ itself before looking at Scott’s work again. This, as Scott acknowledges, was a term coined by Willem van Schendel of the University of Amsterdam in an article published in 2002 in the journal Environment and Planning D, which is probably not prominent on the required reading list of most people reading Reviews in History. Southeast Asianists had the opportunity to encounter the idea again in 2005, when it was re-printed in a more-easily-googled-edited volume titled Locating Southeast Asia. Van Schendel’s conceptualisation of Zomia, however, was not a call for a new area of regional studies. The purpose of his article was to raise questions about the bounded-ness of knowledge production, its hierarchies, and the intersection of different scales. It stresses the significance of borderland studies, not area studies, and the importance of understanding transnational flows and process geographies.
Such personal data collected in the tracking pixels contained in the newsletters are stored and analyzed by the controller in order to optimize the shipping of the newsletter, as well as to adapt the content of future newsletters even better to the interests of the data subject. Data subjects are at any time entitled to revoke the respective separate declaration of consent issued by means of the double-opt-in procedure. GMK Ltd/Beretta automatically regards a withdrawal from the receipt of the newsletter as a revocation. The personal data entered by the data subject are collected and stored exclusively for internal use by the controller, and for his own purposes. The controller may request transfer to one or more processors (e.g. a parcel service) that also uses personal data for an internal purpose which is attributable to the controller. As the controller, GMK Ltd/Beretta has implemented numerous technical and organizational measures to ensure the most complete protection of personal data processed through this website. However, Internet-based data transmissions may in principle have security gaps, so absolute protection may not be guaranteed. For this reason, every data subject is free to transfer personal data to us via alternative means, e.g. by telephone. f GDPR our legitimate interest is to carry out our business in favor of the well-being of all our employees and the shareholders. YouTube and Google will receive information through the YouTube component that the data subject has visited our website, if the data subject at the time of the call to our website is logged in on YouTube; this occurs regardless of whether the person clicks on a YouTube video or not.
By registering on the website of the controller, the IP address-assigned by the Internet service provider and used by the data subject-date, and time of the registration are also stored. The storage of this data takes place against the background that this is the only way to prevent the misuse of our services, and, if necessary, to make it possible to investigate committed offenses.

Furthermore, in exercising his or her right to data portability pursuant to Article 20 of the GDPR, the data subject shall have the right to have personal data transmitted directly from one controller to another, where technically feasible and when doing so does not adversely affect the rights and freedoms of others.
At the same site, Smith found that when more yellow rattle was present, herbaceous species increased at the expense of perennial rye grass Lolium perenne. One study found that when restoring species-rich grassland on a semi-improved grassland site, more plant species were found when yellow rattle was present. In the present petition for judicial review the petitioners seek reduction of three decisions (“the decisions”) made at a special meeting of the respondents’ Planning and Regulatory Services Committee (“the committee”) on 23 August 2011. By those decisions the respondents resolved to approve, subject to certain conditions, three applications to vary conditions of planning permissions previously granted in respect of units 1 and 3 (sub-divided into units 3A and 3B) at Springfield Retail Park. The purpose of the applications was to remove restrictions on the type of goods permitted to be sold from those units and to allow, for the first time, the sale of open Class 1 non‑food goods. The voting at the special meeting of the committee was six votes to five in favour of granting the applications. The historical question that Scott is attempting to answer, however, is of a different historical order, and may yet prove unanswerable.

For Van Schendel, these reorientations away from regional studies force us to reconsider global inter-relationships along new dynamics of knowledge production, and successfully integrate the notion of competing scales more effectively than can any regional focus alone. Van Schendel develops the areal notion of Zomia as a demonstration of the inherent weaknesses of area studies, not as a call for the valorisation of a new one, which he sees as the least favourable option in comparison with borderland and flow studies, in overcoming these ‘geographies of ignorance’. Scott took up many important ideas from this article and the preface and chapter one in his book point towards some of these more penetrating ideas, saying how Zomia is not just an upland space and that it is not just confined to Southeast Asia; lots of qualifications are made in relation to what is about to follow making these pages important for the book as a whole. It would have been preferable, however, to see some of these nuances being explored more thoroughly in the remainder of the text, although this is obviously not Scott’s style, nor is it is intention here.

At the First Hearing it was accepted on all sides that the present petition raised issues that were identical in all respects to those which arose in the Robertson Property Limited case. Accordingly, no separate lines of argument were advanced in relation to the present petition.

But at this point in time, I really cannot recommend this game, unless you want to spend real money in order to progress. The lucky few who were around at the beginning when the game first launched are the only ones who are able to make any UPX now without spending real money as they have plots/buildings they collected for very little UPX.

But do radicalism and ‘anarchism’ have anything to do with the uplands of Southeast Asia? Probably not in these highly socially controlled spaces, even if we might wish to label them ‘egalitarian’. The criteria used to determine the period of storage of personal data is the respective statutory retention period. After expiration of that period, the corresponding data is routinely deleted, as long as it is no longer necessary for the fulfillment of the contract or the initiation of a contract. A 2005 review of six studies exploring the best management for restoring upland hay meadow vegetation on semi-improved grassland in the UK suggested that the highest plant species richness is produced by spring and autumn grazing, a mid-July hay cut and no inorganic fertilizer. Three studies found that adding Rhinanthus minor hay rattle seed can help the colonization of other sown species (Smith et al. 2003, Pywell et al. 2004, Smith 2005). One study in North Yorkshire found that adding farmyard manure had a generally harmful effect on restoration of upland hay meadow communities, and recommended that this should be avoided, at least in the early stages of restoration. However, results were based on using larger quantities of manure than under traditional management. A 2005 review found three studies looking at the role of yellow rattle Rhinanthus minor as a tool when restoring upland hay meadow vegetation on semi-improved grassland. One study in North Yorkshire, UK (Smith et al. 2003) found that sowing key functional species helped other sown target meadow species to colonize.
